Wheeler Benefit Foundation, Recipient

Here at 4imprint® we don't run across a lot of fundraisers that require standard liability waivers from attendees, encourage zany wardrobes and gauge success by not only smiles, but perspiration. However, the Wheeler Dodgeball Benefit Tournament fits the bill.

The Wheeler Dodgeball Benefit Tournament was begun in 2008 by Wheeler Interests, a Virginia-based company that specializes in the acquisition, development and management of shopping centers. The founders were looking for a way to raise money for local charities, but couldn't envision hosting a stuffy black-tie event; and so the Wheeler Dodgeball Tournament was formed.

"Instead of a charity gala where only your top management goes, this is the type of event where everyone can participate, from loading dock workers to executive management. It's about teamwork and morale building and it cuts across divisional layers." says Wheeler Dodgeball Tournament Director Susan Pleasants.

In its first three years the event raised over $70,000, all of which was donated back to the communities served by Wheeler Interest properties. Now in its fourth year, Pleasants expects the number of attendees, and funds raised, to continue to grow.

"Their first year, many team leaders bring one team, then the next year they come back with two teams and a sponsorship. That is really what it is all about." she says, thinking about how the event has grown.

This year teams will have fun and stay well-hydrated with biodegradable water bottles imprinted with the tournament logo made possible through 4imprint®'s one by one® program.
