Imagine needing to prick your child’s finger with a needle several times a day. Or giving yourself a shot before everything you eat. That’s the reality for anyone touched by or diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. As an organization committed to accelerating life-changing breakthroughs for type 1 diabetes and its complications, JDRF, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, is the leading global funder of diabetes research. The need is dire. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that causes an individual’s pancreas to stop producing insulin, the consequences of which are serious and require daily disease management. As a recipient of a 4imprint one by one grant, the Illinois Chapter of JDRF ordered two promotional products as incentives to give away during a vendor fair for their TypeOneNation Summit. Attendees received custom-printed pens at registration: the Javelin Stylus Pen - Metallic, along with a folder full of information. They also received a passport card encouraging them to visit key JDRF booths in the vendor fair area. Attendees filled out the card by visiting vendors. The first 200 to successfully complete the card could bring it back to the event welcome center for a Sport Bottle with Push Pull Lid – 20 oz. – Metallic. The pens and water bottles were a hit, said Mimi Crabtree, executive director of the Illinois Chapter of JDRF. “It just added a little extra something that made our supporters feel good. Something that seems so little, or not necessary to the function of an event made a big difference to us and to our supporters who were able to snag those products,” Crabtree explained. “I know that people loved getting the promotional products. We got great responses about the bingo game, and they loved the water bottles,” said Crabtree. “These philanthropic partnerships are really important. The fact that they were able to do that is huge for our organization.”
