Promo water bottles spread the word about global mission
In countries like Canada and the United States, it can be easy to take safe drinking water for granted. But around the world, more than 2 billion people opens in new window do not have such access. Learning first-hand about the global water crisis led to the creation of H2O4ALL in 2008 by Timothy Muttoo and Odile Bartlett. The organization has since partnered with 55 international charities and engaged community leaders around the world. It carries out its work with five causes in mind: community health, education, food sustainability, climate action and women’s empowerment.
“Our vision is very simple,” said Marcia Barnes, chief operations officer. “It’s safe water for all. It’s to provide safe water and sanitation by developing appropriate technology to the environment.” Sanitation is critical to sustaining clean water access. About 1.4 million people worldwide die each year because of water-related illnesses.
Growing sustainable partnerships
H2O4ALL takes a local approach to its work. By engaging with local leaders, the organization finds solutions and helps communities take ownership of projects to increase the significance and odds of success. It’s also a holistic approach, where sustainable and respectful solutions are sought.
Strategies used include solar power, UV purification, rainwater harvesting, sustainable farming practices and greywater recovery, which involves the treating of wastewater for reuse. H2O4ALL collaborates with an international team of engineers, public health experts, hydrologists and project managers who plan, design and manage these clean water projects from start to finish.
Promo water bottles show appreciation
Each year, H2O4ALL holds a golf tournament to raise money for a project. A one by one grant provided promo water bottles opens in new window that were part of a swag package for attendees. “By providing a gift, not only does a participant leave feeling like they’ve had a day of fun, but they’ve also received something tangible,” Barnes said. “And it’s something that promotes our organization from that point forward.”
This golf tournament was a fundraiser for a project in Uganda that aimed to help more than 6,000 people gain access to drinkable water. The grant made a meaningful impact on H2O4ALL since it can provide safe drinking water to one person for a year for $1.50. “We would think twice about giving away that type of swag if it wasn’t supported because every dollar we spend on something else is a dollar not spent on safe water,” Barnes said.
