Promotional thank-you gifts purr-fect for pet adopters

More than 20 years ago, a team of like-minded people came together to purchase a piece of farmland in Chilliwack, British Columbia. They founded Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven opens in new window, a no-kill animal sanctuary dedicated to caring for cats and providing adoption services. Supported by sponsorships, grants and donations, the now 22-year-old registered charity has helped more than 1,250 cats find forever homes.

“There are so many cats in need,” said Lisa Bradshaw, director of community outreach and education. “We’re one of five rescues in Chilliwack, and it’s a small farming community. We’re taking care of these cats and doing the best by them, supporting spay-neuter initiatives in the community and just making sure these cats are safe.”

A safe home with space to roam

Located on five acres, the sanctuary features 16 large indoor-outdoor spaces for its feline occupants. Some have critical medical needs, including diabetes, requiring daily shots or other medication. And while some come and go in days, others have been at the sanctuary for more than 10 years.

The number of cats on-site is always changing, with an average of one adoption per day. In 2024, about 400 cats were brought in and 360 were adopted. “They’re being sent out fully medically vetted, spayed and neutered, with all their vaccines,” Bradshaw said. “We’re trying to get healthy cats into forever homes. That’s our main mission.”

Promotional thank-you gifts add something extra

Through the one by one grant program, the Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven team received reusable tote bags opens in new window. They’re filled with adoption paperwork, food samples, toys and other items, and are given as promotional thank-you gifts for new adopters. The bags are teal-colored—matching the organization’s branding—and imprinted with the Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven logo.

Another purchase made with the grant was a tabletop display opens in new window to improve the look of the team’s booth at public outreach events. “It added a nice height to our display table, and we are able to organize things in a different way,” Bradshaw said. “It’s far more cohesive and I actually got some very nice comments on the setup.”
