Custom branded gifts help spread encouragement and support

Hello Gorgeous! opens in new window is a northern Indiana nonprofit helping women with cancer rediscover confidence during one of the more challenging times in their lives. For two decades, the nonprofit has supported women undergoing cancer treatment by offering encouragement, connection and a chance to feel like their true selves again.

Founded in 2006 by hairdresser Kim Becker and her late husband Michael Becker, Hello Gorgeous! provides complimentary makeovers and support services designed to restore confidence and spark joy. What started as a simple idea has grown into a nationwide effort that has helped thousands of women feel seen, supported and empowered.

Restoring confidence through care

Hello Gorgeous! meets women where they are, whether through in-person makeovers or virtual experiences. During a typical makeover, a participant—who is nominated by friends, family or themselves—is welcomed into a salon with a red-carpet “Hello Gorgeous!” greeting and treated to a full day of services, from hair and makeup to skincare, nails and clothing.

“This is all about support to help a woman with cancer smile when she looks in the mirror,” Becker said. “A lot of times when someone goes through cancer treatment, it’s not the cancer so much as the treatment that changes their appearance to the point where they don’t recognize themselves anymore. We want to help normalize that.”

The goal isn’t just a one-day transformation, but lasting empowerment. Each woman leaves with products used during the makeover so they can recreate the look at home.

To expand its reach, the nonprofit developed a salon certification program where professionals are trained to safely care for women with compromised immune systems. Through these partnerships, Hello Gorgeous! has extended its impact into communities across the country.

Promotional tote bags carry the mission forward

A one by one grant helped Hello Gorgeous! celebrate its 20th anniversary by boosting its outreach with practical custom branded gifts. Becker gave cotton tote bags opens in new window, imprinted with a special anniversary logo, to community members attending the milestone celebration event. The day included a mayoral proclamation honoring the organization’s impact.

After the celebration, the tote bags became part of the nonprofit’s core programming. Women receiving makeovers use them to carry home the products from their experience. The bags also serve as reusable brand ambassadors, extending the organization’s message beyond the moment. Just as important is the lasting impression made by the imprinted logo. “When people see ‘Hello Gorgeous!’ they can’t help but smile,” Becker said. “It starts conversations and makes the world a nicer place.”
